About Us

Hello, 

I am Maria owner and Photographer of Maria Jan Photography. I am based in the Western Suburbs of Victoria. I specialise in capturing Family, Maternity and Newborn Photography. 

My passion for photography first began when I bought my first camera in 2008 while I travelled through Mexico and Cuba. I fell in love with my surroundings and easily gravitated towards my camera to capture everything that caught my eye, the Architecture, the Ruins and the Culture. It was at this moment when I realised I could never put my camera down. So I turned my sights to pursue my future in Photography, after completing my Bachelors Degree in Arts (Computer Mediated arts).

It wasn’t until after taking photos of my own children when they were born that I truly saw for the first time their essence, their rare smile and their peace. I knew I found my calling in infant and family photography. In 2009, I began taking photographs of newborns and family portraits of family and friends. 

But over time, I had bigger ambitions. 

This is where I started Maria Jan Photography 2014. As my children are so important in my life, I had decided to include their names in my business - J for Johan, A for Alexa and N for Noah.

Now I spend my days in my home studio, meeting new babies and families and capturing the precious moments a baby fleetingly opens their eyes as they say hello to the world.

 It would be my honour to capture these moments for you…There is nothing more Beautiful than a photograph that captures a moment in time that you can cherish for the rest of your life.

We usually recommend taking pictures of newborns up to two weeks, when the baby has enough flexibility for the most beautiful poses, in addition, newborns sleep more hours in a row. However, we accommodate baby's up to four weeks, with some pose limitations.

We strongly recommend that you book your newborn session during pregnancy to guarantee a space.
